Because tidal currents offer the opportunity to harness a clean, low-carbon, predictable and inexhaustible resource, largely independent of weather conditions and geopolitical uncertainties. This is true in France, but also in other parts of the world, notably the United Kingdom and Canada.

And, of course, because here in our maritime region, from the Alderney Race — known in France as the Raz Blanchard — to the waters around the Channel Islands, these powerful tidal currents are still there, representing an untapped energy potential at least equivalent to that of a nuclear power plant.
